as I can recall (if my memory serves me well, which I really doubt, :),
usually you can disperse telcom into these following areas:
protocol
infrastruture (network application based on existing protocol)
device (black box level -- application level)
device (chipset level)
这里面, infrastructure/device (application level) 的东西可以不需要或
仅需要极少的高等数学/数学分析/编程知识. protocol里面大概也可以break
down成数学/编程要求高的和没什么要求的两类吧 (correct me if I was wrong)
这种情况下, 你不需要任何线代/信号系统的知识, FFT没听说过也无所谓,
因为这部分所有的东西都可以用文字表述而无需数学, 这一类的job tit

basically agree with you. hehe (when did you graduate?)
In Telecommunications, 我说过了, 由于系统是如此之大,
所涉及的范围是如此之广, 你不可能也没有必要master all.
一般来讲, 从学术角度, 你应该掌握较多的数学(线性代数,
离散数学, 随机理论, 随机过程, 信息理论, .. 数字信号
处理乃至神经网络, 图论 ...这么列下去就多了.)
我现在正打算做移动系统的用户容量分析和比较, 这里面牵涉
到了一点移动系统的基本概念外(4小时阅读可以掌握), 都是
数学.
从开发角度讲, 分为系统研究和产品开发, 这两方面又有不同
的侧重. 系统研究注重系统的效率分析和可行性. 需要的电信
知识比较浅薄(也不绝对)但范围比较大, 需要的专业经验也很
多(因为一个系统所涉及的东西从协议到接口到效率都需要很深
的专业背景). 想想高级程序员和系统分析员的差别吧.
产品开发就是低一层次的工作, 需要一些硬件软件设计师和
技术工人(象你们以后工作了, 都是技术工人). 这里就需要那些
什么C++, 电路啊什么
