十年前当我刚刚完成了高三的学业来到多伦多时，这里仅有很少的中国留学生在读高中
或是大学本科的。在英语上，我们要和同龄的本地学生一起读英语，用英语学习物理，
化学，生物。。。
现在到海外的留学生越来越多。他们中的很多，也要和那时的我一样，克服语言上的障
碍，到大学里读书，完成学业。我的这份总结主要是为他们而写。目的不是教授英文，
而是传达一些十年来我自己积累的学习英语的方法和心得。
我认为培养语言感觉是成功的本质因素。本文也是侧重阐述如何在听，说，读
，写，四个方面提到语言感觉的。
本文是根据我在加拿大读高中，大学，研究生的个人经验所写。有片面和不足之处，欢
迎大家指正。

I need to do projections between these two coordinates:
Projection = State Plane, Arizona Central Zone
Datum = NAD83-92(HARN)
Units = International Feet
Projection = UTM, Zone 12
Datum = NAD27
Units = Meters
I used Projection Utility in Arcview 3.2a and selected the NADCON in the
Datum Tab do it. However, the project data were off approximately 1~2 meters
. Does anybody have ideas how to do it correctly? Thanks.

很多情况下，不同来源的数据就是对不上。差一两米挺正常的。
如果这个区别是由projection带来的话，如果是简单的线性关系的话，试着调调
projection的参数就行了，什么false northing/easting了，这个就是调原点，相当于
平移。如果不是线性的话，难度很大。
象你这个datum都不同，估计非常难调。
nad83和nad27区别还是挺大的。简单的说，这两个datum所代表的地球的形状不太一样
。所以投到平面上很难是一样的。

google corpscon,which is a USACE software.
compare corpscon results with arcview's to see what you can get.

corpscon is a very good way to check projection conversion. Thank you very
much for mentioning that.

Thanks fwch and mel. Since I am projecting shapefiles, corpscon does not
take shapefile projections. I have someone showed to me how to successfully
project the shapefiles in ArcGIS. Somehow, the projection utility in Arcview
3.2 (the only GIS software that our office has) does not work. We might
consider buying AutoCAD Map to the projection.

I am not a GIS guy knowing nothing about arcgis.
but,if you can retrieve several points' x,y from your gis file,then you can
still do a comparision.

在arcview 3.2里shapefile的projection不是on the fly的，就是如果两个文件的
projection如果不一样的话加在同一个view里是重合不到一起的，最好是加到arcmap里
查查。
选择Nadcon是对的，另外就是UTM的unit如果对的话应该会重合到一起的。好像它的
default是feet, not meter,在project时最后确定一下。
用arctoolbox的projection wizard最方便。

CORPSCON is not a conversion tool. Use it as a check to see if ArcView 3.2
projected correctly.
Check your original coordinate, project it using ArcView and check the
coordinate again. If it agrees with CORPSCON, then it is done correctly. :)
ArcView 3.2 is toooooooooooooo old, although it still beats ArcGIS in terms
of performance :).

Mel. thanks. Could you please elebatorate the major differences between
ArcView 3.2 and the current ARCGIS. I used ArcView mainly for floodplain
studies, LOMRs, and CLOMRs. What are the advantages to use ArcGIS in these
areas? Thank you.

It is like Windows Vista and Windows XP.
ESRI moved to ArcGIS many years ago, there is no future for ArcView 3.x.
Because nobody will support it.
