#1 I don't think I'm less competent than other candidates just because my LSAT
is lower than them. I took GRE and GMAT years ago when I was a single student
and I did a fabulous job. So I know my potential. I still remember the days
when I prepare my LSAT -- My husband needed to work overtime and came home
after 9pm each day. I had to take care of my one-year old baby, put him to
sleep, prepare dinner, clean the dishes ... When all of these are done, I
started to prepare for LSAT from 10pm - 2am

It could be some people are merely stating the fact.
I don't think LSAT score could determine your life, but
let's face it -- it is the most important factor in law
school admission; I don't think getting into top school
will guarantee a better legal career either, but again,
it does increase your odds.
Anyhow, I do believe people with determined minds can beat
statistics and achieve what they set out to do in life. And
I think these people should have no problem laughi

unfortunly, LSAT score is a BIG indicator of one's ability for LAW school, at
least in the eyes of the admission committee. A lower LSAT score WILL put you
in a disadvantages position compare to other applicants. Of course using a
single test score to measure one's ability is kind silly, but what really does
measure one's ability? Does the fact you are married and have a kid make you
more competant? does the fact you have a job going to make you more
successful in law school? Does anything

Tell me how those minority students with 150 LSAT
scores in U of Michigan managed to graduate and got
decent jobs. From your post, I got the feeling that
those students might have just committed suicide.

You ever heard of URM? Under represented Minority? where are you from?
Where have you been? Hello? Affirmitive action?????
It's actually very ironic, AA have been complaining about descrimination for
years. Yet, affirmitive action is descrimiation, and its sole supportive
ground being Black as an ethnic group is inferior to the general population,
and are they complaining about that?

Law firm practice quotas too, they just don'g publices it, it is affirmative
action by idea. Also, very easily, they gradruated from U of Mich. You can
gradruate from the bottom 25% of a good school and still get a good job.
while the same job one have to gradruate top 25% of a second tier school.
It's the school, not THEM.

man, we haven't seen such good water on this board for ages... fire is good,
water is better!
law school is not grad school, it's a professional school. -- meaning that if
you don't know what you want from law school, maybe law school isn't right for
you. I would't want to get into a $10k debt and spend three years just to
find out what I ~dont't~ want to do with my life, would you?

1) public interest jobs are highly competitive, and they pay jack;
2) most good private firm

Your reading comprehension is NOT fine.
I was talking about whether LSAT is as strong
an indicator of surviving in law schools as
you claim. While you keeping talking about
affirmative action which is not related to
the topic.

surviving is not hard. Anyone with a 160 or above in my opinion have enough
brain to survive Harvard/Yale, but how many of them get in? 5/10 percent?
your argument is flawed, where the heck is your reasoning?
LSAT is the best indicator of one's ability to success in law school , says

From UCB info, about 7000 people applied, around 400 people admitted.
I would not feel anything no matter how "strong" my credential is, it always
depends on who the other dude that applied is. You might never know.
So sober up and do the homework
Don't forget to come back taunting us here when you get in some fancy school.

Can't agree any more. Silly might it sound, law schools are all about
numbering games - from the first day when you apply for it, till the last day
when you graduate from it.
LSAT score is definitely the most important factor when applying to law
school, if not the only one. And the same rule plays again when you are
applying for summer position. It might even be worse in job hunting, because
your GPA is really the ONLY factor considered by firms.

I'm afraid you digressed too much from our initial discussion. The topic is
law school admission, which unfortunately is all about numbers. The bloody
truth is that if your LSAT and GPA are lower than certain standard, nobody
would even bother reading your whatever public interest dream.
I personally respect those who are interested in public service as well.
However, if you want to realize your dream through law school - hit a decent
LSAT score and get into one first.

Man, I think you did a superb job. If you had did better on that LG session,
you would have hit a solid 170. I took oct LSAT too and I screwed it up big
time. I'm taking the December one and, honestly, still intimidated by the RC
session and don't see improvement, really amazed how much you improved in 2
weeks.
