very big worry for you. What do you see today? Do you worry about
inflation or deflation?
BUFFETT: Well, I don't worry about deflation at all. We won't see
deflation in any significant amount in your lifetime, which is more relevant
than my lifetime. We've taken action in fighting the economic war that we
face that certainly sows the seeds of substantial inflation down the road

巴菲特一直认为,通货膨胀不是经济行为,而是政治行为. 因为,没有政治力量能监督
政府制造通货膨胀,而对政府来说,通货膨胀比增税和减少开支比,是最不痛苦的方
式之一.
现在最大的问题是,随着人口老龄化,财政赤字是一个全球性的问题. 而全球的政府
都可能选择通货膨胀这个不会造成直接痛苦的方法来推迟问题的爆发. 我也不觉
得有什么方法可以避开通货膨胀.

另外,Buffett现在经常言行不一. 如果他坚信高通货膨胀的话,很难理解他为什么要以
10%的利率借给Tiffany二点五亿的美金(八到十年到期). 或者他认为通货膨胀仍然
很遥远?

如果是滞胀的话，10% return是合理的，比如通胀7%，经济增长<2%。而且要看借给
Tiffany的钱安全与否。

He doesn't think inflation is an immediate danger.
And 10% is a good deal anyway, you have to diversify.

I actually suspect it is more than that. Because BRKA owns quite a few high-
end jewelry stores, there could possible be several anti-competition clause
in the loan doc that protects their market shares. Buffett is a very good
businessman. So I suspect the loan is not based on its own investment
returns only. Of course, I have no access to any of the info and it is pure
speculation.

iShares Barclays TIPS Bond exchange-traded fund (ticker: TIP) but TIPS is
based on government numbers, so you will be wasting your time..

It's based on government cooked #s of inflation, and you simply cannot
trust the government.
