I don't have any professional photo editing software, so this is what I did
to prepare my parent's DS160 photo.
I asked my parents to take a photo using digital camera themselves(in front
of white wall). I told them don't worry about the technique, just take one
anyway. Then email the photos to me.
I downloaded a free software( there're quite some entries coming up), I didn
't spend time investigating, maybe just picked one randomly and it worked
for me. The one I use is called PassportPhotoSoftwareFree. It's pretty easy
to use: choose your photo and select the area and it generates a sheet with
6 photos
Open the photo sheet with mspaint and select one photo out of the 6,cut and
paste to a new window and there you go.
Note: if the system complains about 'out of focus'( i don't remember the
exact message), just go back to step one and make sure to cut the photo
according to their spec. I didn't leave enough space at the top the first
time.
if the system complains something about 'illumination', you can adjust
brightness/contrast etc with some free photo editing software as well.( I
use windows live photo gallery just because I have it already installed).

拿到offer再说吧，社区大学当老师也是faculty啊，为啥不能办。

是啊，就是因为觉得是PHD， 会不会批不下来。一些美国同学，有去社区大学的，工资
也不比那些university差，工作又轻松些，所以想试试。可是担心身份的问题。

因为时间实在有限，如果大家都是觉得批不下来的（对H1B申请没有概念），我想就不
要太浪费时间在它上面了。所以想先了解一下情况。谢谢啦。

就像有的小公司以前没办过h1b,你要去educate他们，呵呵，事在人为。
没有啥绝对不办h1b的，加油加油！
