I see a couple of obstacles of hydrogen as a transportation fuel. First, it is incompatable with current transportation/storage infrustructure . A lot government money has to be put in to build such an infrustructure. Does the government really want to make a commitment to do so, while the current gasoline infrustructure will exist for the foreseeable future. What I talk about is to produce hydrogen from carbohydrate and water as below reaction C6H10O5 (aqueous) + 7 H2O (l) --> 12 H2 (g) + 6 CO2 (g). Please check the H prize.
