With a little bit better luck, I received several grants from NSF in the
last two years but I do not have enough students to spend them in time. Any
advice on how not to spend NSF funding in time without violating NSF and
university rules? What if we can deliver what is promised in our proposals
without spending the NSF money and can we explicitly mention this to NSF?
What is the usual procedure for requesting no-cost extension from NSF? Is it
complex to have more than two years of no-cost extension for a three-year
or five-year project? Any advice will be very helpful and greatly
appreciated.

我的情况是2015在美国开始读书，今年因为被人强行安利用了turbotax报税，结果上交
的表格是1040A，但我的F1情况应该用1040NR-EZ。有没有大神可以告诉我，我改如何修
改。一般情况都说用1040X，但是我有几点疑问：
1.我是否需要等待IRS的通知再改。
2.我是否需要再填一次1040NR-EZ。
3.填完1040X后，我是否需要附上错误的1040A和我应该填写的1040NR-EZ。

刚刚拿到绿卡，老公是公民。这样给爸妈申签证算是硬伤么？爸妈是属沈阳领馆，之前
F1身份的时候父母被拒签一次，之后顺利签过，在美国停留仅一个月。
还请过来人解答。多谢了！

刚刚拿到绿卡，老公是公民。这样给爸妈申签证算是硬伤么？爸妈是属沈阳领馆，之前
F1身份的时候父母被拒签一次，之后顺利签过，在美国停留仅一个月。还请过来人解答

1. apply for no-cost extension. nsf usually grants it without too much
trouble;
2. make a deal with department/other faculty such that you support their
students for now and they support yours later. but there is a potential
problem - all students supported by this grant are supposed to work on this
project;
3. move money from student support to other categories, e.g., travel, and
spend them.

During my phone call with NIH PO last month, she told me that if I don't
need the money, I can return them to NIH and they are really short of money.
