The Center for Bioinformatics of the U.S FDA’s National Center for
Toxicological Research (NCTR) seeks a qualified postdoctoral candidate in
the field of bioinformatics. The position is open immediately. The position
requires a diverse range of expertise in data mining, machine learning,
statistics, and biology. The successful candidate needs to have a Ph.D.
degree or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology,
statistics or computational chemistry. The candidate must demonstrate
experience with microarray data analysis and/or dealing with in vitro
screening assay data using both supervised and unsupervised learning
techniques. Experience with next generation sequencing technologies will be
a huge plus. Knowledge in toxicology and biology, in generally, and
hepatotoxicity in particular will be highly beneficial. The starting salary
is above $60K depending on the experience.
The position is applied to the candidates with U.S. citizenship or permanent
resident alien status. The foreign applicants can enroll the program with
J1 visa. The applicants with Optional Practical Training (OPT) are
encouraged to apply but the conversion to J1 visa needs to take place within
a year after joining the program. The H-1 holders willing to convert to J-1
status are also considered.
