版上有人搞过这个么？我是在读博士，实验中自己对已有的一个东西进行了改进，跟老
板谈了，大家都觉得非常有用。我准备去申请个专利，不晓得这东西申请了都有些什么
好处呢？

如果你要申请专利，大概先要确定之前没有人发表，公开谈论过这个想法。
然后在申请递交之前你都不应该公开讨论这个东西。
好处，就要看具体情况了，可能只是CV上好看。

我查过了，这个东西还没有人申请过专利。那文章中是否能描述呢？有篇文章马上要投
出去了，里面要用到这个东西。

file patent before submitting the paper. otherwise your patent will not be
issued since editor and reviewers know about it already.

不能描述。描述了你的“专利”就在public domain里面了。这种情况只能先申请专利
再发文章。

talk to the patent office or similar offices in your university first.
Also, do not publically disclose any information of your patent before you
file it or at least file the provisional patent

Also, your "patent" should be novel and not obvious, which means it must not
be easily perceived by a person of expertise in that invention’s
particular field.

嗯，约了学校的律师明天就谈申请的事。看来我得把文章中的相关描述尽量抽象化了。
跟导师谈过，他也觉得这个东西很好很有用。
希望能搞个玩玩，也许对今后找工作、申请绿卡会有用。

个申请材料中都没有提到过citation.因为我的引用也很少，正在考虑要不要提。谢谢！
