clinical trial吧，像医院，制药公司，科研院校，只要有这个实验室的，都可能会招

Make sure you are eligible to take the exam. Usually,in order to be
certified as a clinical technologist, you have to:
1) 1 year of training in a Certified clinical lab (clinical labs in China
not count here, because there is no certification system there) if you have
a Bechalor's degree.
2) half year of training in a Certified clinical lab if you have a master's
degree.
3) three month of training in a Certified clinical lab if you have a PhD
degree.
Some clinical labs provide the training program, usually 9 mon to 13 months.
It is not easy to get into the program.
The job market for Clinical technologists is still OK (maybe good). In US,
all the clinical diagnostic tests have to be performed by a Certified
technologist in a certified clinical lab, the trainee number is limited each year.
You can call ASCP for more information.

"The starting salary for a medical technologist depends on the location, but
many graduates earn from $35,000 to $43,000, he said. According to Salary.
com, the median salary for ASCP-certified medical technologists in the

You may not have much choice for the first job, but after you get experience
, more chances are waiting for you.
Two points:
1) at least bachelor's degree in the related field
2) "acceptable clinical laboratory experience in molecular diagnostics in
the U.S., Canada or an accredited clinical laboratory** within the last five
years."
You have to be trained in a Accredited Clinical Laboratory in order to take

certificated. She said the program is 2 years, very competitive to get in.

I do not know the salary for technologist. According to my understanding, MB
is also one of the technologists specifically certified in molecular lab.
My gut feeling is that the job market is also good. The clinical molecular
labs are expanding due to the large amount of tests requested by clinicians
recently. A molecular lab director had complained the shortage of mb to me.
In a clinical lab:
Technician (associate degree)---- Technologist (bachelor with special training
programs, master, PhD)---- Specialist
So, you can start directly from "technologist", such as you mentioned mb. If
you have cytogenetic background,I suggest you think about the
cytotechonologist too. People said a cytotechnologist got paid more.

Go to pathology department of any hospital (University hospitals), they may

我phd毕业后，就在一小生物公司混日子，薪水不高，工作轻松，但也学不到新的东西
。公司也没啥起色，半死不活的。大的公司太难进了，而且裁人太厉害了。
自己做的现在都是molecular biology/cell biology的东西，这段时间做些病人样品的
bio analysis.
很想转到临床相关的工作上去，但是实在是找不到突破口。

你说的是CPEP-Accredited Postgraduate Clinical
MicrobiologyTraining program吧？的确很难，另外，你知道Molecular Microbiolgy
(MB)有这种类似的program吗？

Make sure you are eligible to take the exam. Usually,in order to be
certified as a clinical technologist, you have to:
1) 1 year of training in a Certified clinical lab (clinical labs in China
not count here, because there is no certification system there) if you have
a Bechalor's degree.
2) half year of training in a Certified clinical lab if you have a master's
degree.
3) three month of training in a Certified clinical lab if you have a PhD
degree.
Some clinical labs provide the training program, usually 9 mon to 13 months.
It is not easy to get into the program.
The job market for Clinical technologists is still OK (maybe good). In US,
all the clinical diagnostic tests have to be performed by a Certified
technologist in a certified clinical lab, the trainee number is limited each year.
You can call ASCP for more information.

"A recent study by the American Society for Clinical Pathology published in
the March issue of LabMedicine confirms the shortage of medical
technologists, reporting that half of all laboratories nationwide are
struggling to hire lab personnel."
"The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that by 2012, 138,
000 lab professionals will be needed, but fewer than 50,000 will be trained."
"The starting salary for a medical technologist depends on the location, but
many graduates earn from $35,000 to $43,000, he said. According to Salary.
com, the median salary for ASCP-certified medical technologists in the
United States is around $56,000."
You may not have much choice for the first job, but after you get experience
, more chances are waiting for you.

is also one of the technologists specifically certified in molecular lab.
My gut feeling is that the job market is also good. The clinical molecular
labs are expanding due to the large amount of tests requested by clinicians
recently. A molecular lab director had complained the shortage of mb to me.
In a clinical lab:
Technician (associate degree)---- Technologist (bachelor with special training
programs, master, PhD)---- Specialist
So, you can start directly from "technologist", such as you mentioned mb. If
you have cytogenetic background,I suggest you think about the
cytotechonologist too. People said a cytotechnologist got paid more.

是啊，这学期是RA，有些时间可以复习下，打算考mb(ascp)
学微生物的去药厂有点难，但是去医院和一些生物诊断公司看来还是可行的，所以我打
算先考下这个

我phd毕业后，就在一小生物公司混日子，薪水不高，工作轻松，但也学不到新的东西
。公司也没啥起色，半死不活的。大的公司太难进了，而且裁人太厉害了。
自己做的现在都是molecular biology/cell biology的东西，这段时间做些病人样品的
bio analysis.
很想转到临床相关的工作上去，但是实在是找不到突破口。
