Why? Did he invent the usage of all kinds of detergent? Did he invent the bicelle technique? Did he invent the LCP technique? What was developed by him?
【在 d******1 的大作中提到】 : in terms of membrane protein crystallization technique development,Stevens : is the best, I think.

at least he can claim one GPCR structure per two years.

lol. Just in terms of number of new GPCR structures, Kobilka lab published 5 new GPCR structures in the past 4 years besides the first beta2 receptor structure published in 2008. Another thing, there are less than 10 people including grad students in Kobilka lab. There are more than 40 postdocs in Stevens lab.

同意楼上的。(2,4,6,8,9,10,11) 1. No innovation was done in Stevens lab. Not even LCP, Martin Caffrey modified the technology to for the success. Actually the machine they used for crystallizing b2-T4L is from Martin Caffrey while Martin's name was not even mentioned in the paper. 2. The innovation from Kobilka lab include T4L-fusion, nanobody stabilizing active conformation, antibody to get the first structure, and believe me, more is coming; and from collaborators, which Brian Kobilka emphasized every time, new detergent, new lipid, new protocol to get the b2-G protein complex structure. I think any neutral structural biologist and GPCR scientist will agree this prize should go to Kobilka without Stevens.

The pools are made up of 422,000 pounds of stainless steel and can hold 376 ,500 gallons (1424 cubic metres) of water. The SkyPark also boasts rooftop restaurants, nightclubs, gardens hundreds of trees and plants and a public observatory with 360-degree views of the Singapore skyline.
