trees are exceptionally resilient: even you cut down a healthy deciduous
tree, it will grow back next year from the root! (it is called rejuvenation
pruning) sometimes, pests can eat all the leaves on a tree, this is still
not enough to kill it. soon it will grow new leaves (I witnessed this myself
).
if your tree has been healthy, and there is no known disasters, your tree is
unlikely dead. just wait a little bit longer, it may start growing again.
