Mphil/PhD student recruitment
My lab (PI: Xiangbin Teng, https://sites.google.com/site/xiangbinteng2/) is looking for a talented and motivated student with backgrounds in engineering, computer science, cognitive science, psychology, or other related fields to join the PhD/Mphil program in the Department of Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, for the fall of 2023.
My lab aims to understand, in general, how humans understand speech, appreciate music, and perceive time, using behavioural measurements, neuroimaging tools such as EEG and fNIRS, and artificial neural networks. Our research focus is on speech and music rhythms and on auditory temporal processing, but applicants can also propose relevant topics and directions.
We are interested in applicants with the following strengths, although we would be happy to consider extraordinary candidates who do not fit those criteria:
Capable of using programming languages such as Python and MATLAB to analyze behavioral and neuroimaging data.
Had experience in conducting psychological experiments.
Comfortable with speaking and writing in English.
Able to finish research projects (from designing experiments to writing manuscripts)
Have a sense of humor when encountering opinions and perspectives different from yours.
Professional and collaborative
Show genuine interest in certain research topics

PhD:
General qualifications required by the Graduate school
Fulfil the "English Language Proficiency Requirement" as stipulated by the Graduate School (Please refer to Graduate School Homepage for details on these requirements)
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or in a related field
Obtain an overall GPA of 3.5 or above or honours not lower than Second Class Upper
Have completed an individually supervised research thesis.
Mphil:
General qualifications required by the Graduate school
Fulfil the "English Language Proficiency Requirement" as stipulated by the Graduate School
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or in a related field
Obtain an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
