The Economist Global Business Review (GBR) is a Chinese-English bilingual digital product from the editors of The Economist Group, launched in 2015. The product is designed for the Globally Curious Achievers and beyond, readers who want mind-stretching journalism. Each month, the best business, finance and technology articles from the weekly publication are selected and translated, and delivered to readers’ mobile devices. The articles report on key trends shaping the global business community, always with deep insights and sharp perspectives. The Economist Global Business Review also engages more Chinese readers to analyse the world and also to provoke critical thinking.
Accountabilities
We are recruiting a Social Media Manager who will be able to:
Manage social media accounts including Weibo, WeChat, Channels, LinkedIn and beyond for @TheEconomistGroup and @GlobalBusinessReview(GBR) in China to effectively contribute to GBR subscription and follower conversion, with content that's intuitive, attractive and true to The Economist writing style under the supervision of the GBR Managing Director
Provide strategic analysis for the Managing Director and GBR marketing team in assessing current/emerging social platforms. Work with GBR MD to create and update the overall content marketing strategy for GBR based on social media posts performance, search trends, user feedback and marketing analysis. Plan for all-channels communications including weekly newsletters, push alerts, community brief, ads copy etc. Excellent writing and editing skills are a must for this role - to ensure the quality, accuracy and consistency of all content for both editorial and marketing purposes, or as required
Explore innovative ways to drive content marketing to enhance GBR brand awareness in China in the fast moving digital landscape, with a focus on video/livestream and other emerging social media/commerce platforms, utilising GBR/TEG digital assets including bilingual articles, interviews, films to create attractive content packages to reach new target audience and improve follower engagement in social media communities
Build and maintain relations with internal and external stakeholders to promote their contents on social platforms.
Experience, skills and professional attributes
The desirable skills for this role include:
Proven social media management experience (Please include social media channels you worked on or link to communities you managed)
Deep and up-to-date knowledge of China social media platforms and the role they play in business (digital marketing, customer communications, etc.), hands-on experience of new user to subscriber conversion and customer lifecycle management for digital products
Experience in managing professional events or organising networks, deliver contents and services that meet the editorial standards of The Economist, and ability to sustain and develop strong business relationships
Excellent Chinese writing and editing skills, fluency in English
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Knowledge of or interest in short-video production, e-commerce livestream etc. and other social media/commerce platforms. Professional mastery of video and audio editing would be an advantage (please include links to podcasts/projects you independently produced)
Experience in working with or creating subscription-based content products in China is a plus
Experience in working with KOLs, thought leaders and influencers, is a plus
An interest in, and knowledge of, business issues, global affairs, technology and economic trends
