Road to 2024: Role of Media in Elections

Location: Guangzhou American Center, U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou, 43 Huajiu Rd., Zhujiang New Town (through the Business Entrance CAC)

Another U.S. Presidential Election is approaching this November. Elections and voting are pivotal components of American democracy. How does the media, with the backing of public opinion, contribute to monitoring and influencing elections and narratives within the democratic framework?

Join us as an experienced veteran of four U.S. presidential campaigns shares their profound insights and frontline stories in this hybrid event. The speaker is a former communications director and chief spokesperson of the Democratic National Committee and current founding executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service. He is a leading voice in analyzing and tackling political polarization and promoting productive political dialogue.  He spent two decades specializing in political communication and in numerous statewide and local races, and a frequent commentator across print, broadcast, and digital media.

This event will be conducted in English. Please note that seating is limited, attendance will be on a first- come, first- served basis. The event will close once it reaches full capacity. A reservation does not guarantee entry. Thank you for your understanding.

Attendees will need to show their physical ID or passport to be admitted into the Consulate. We do not provide safekeeping services for cameras and laptops, please do not bring them with you. Other belongings will be temporarily stored at the gate, including mobile phones and bags.

为此，欢迎参加我们线下的连线互动活动，听取一位曾历经四届美国总统大选的前资深媒体人分享洞见和“一线”故事。这位嘉宾曾是美国民主党全国委员会的传播总监与首席新闻发言人；如今是乔治城大学政治与公共服务学院的首任执行院长。他是美国分析与化解政治极化、推动政治对话的意见领袖，投身政治传播沟通二十年，参与了无数州一级的和地方性选举，经常在纸媒、电视电台以及网络媒体上，发表评论。

本次活动将用英文进行。请注意，本次活动席位有限，先到先得，满员后则不再允许入场，成功报名活动不代表一定保证可以入场，感谢您的理解。
