Wang Dingguo's songstress, known as Yuwen or "Rou Nu," possesses enchanting features, with graceful eyebrows, and is skilled in social interaction. Her family resides in the capital. Upon Dingguo's return from the south, I inquired of Rou, "The climate in the southern land must be disagreeable, isn't it?" Rou responded, "Where my heart finds tranquillity, that is my homeland." And hence, the verse of mine unfolds as follows...
A Verse by Su Dongpo
The glamour man of the beings I oft admire,
Even heavens favour him with a belle of lyre.
All say, through her white teeth, like snow with breeze
cools sultry seas off, her ethereal songs transpire.
Returning from afar, much younger she looks,
She smiles with some southern plum smell, as I inquire
About the South, I deem it must be vile,
She calmly says, “Where my heart can rest, that’s my shire.”
