I received an e-mail asking me to comment on age discrimination in law firm
hiring:
"A few weeks ago, there was a terrible article in the National Law Journal
about how 'older' or second-career lawyers most often end up as solos,
prompted by some NALP statistics about the paucity of grads 36 and older in
BigLaw. The article went on to say ... that nontrads don’t want to work

Agreed. My "more mature" classmates cannot tolerate humiliation at the same
level I do. Instead they always expect and demand respect, despite their
junior status, hence the numerosity of nontrad gunners in law school.

They have junior status because even though they were 30+, they were 1Ls
just like us, and like us, they will be junior associates?
As to your second question, this is the most plausible explanation I have --
imagine if you had to attend an elementary school today with a bunch of 9-
year-olds. Would you be embarrassed? Of course. It's only human to do so.
And how do you avoid the embarrassment/humiliation? By trying to get them to
respect you. But in the end these non-trads just end up talking e
