Since there's so much debate, here's my 2 cents:
There are 2 factors affecting performance on any task in life, including law
. 1. hard work. 2. intelligence. In the case of law, Factor #2 is not your
general IQ, but specifically your natural aptitude for law.
Obviously, you have more control over Factor #1. If you work hard enough,
you can expect to make top 50% at a law school that was willing to admit you
. This is the first factor.
But there is no telling where you will end up within the to

One more thing -- to the 0Ls out there who are net-addicts -- you know who
you are -- if you're reading this, very likely you're one -- Leave your
laptop home until the final exam. Take all your notes on paper. Sure you
sacrifice some efficiency. But trust me, you don't need to write down every
word your prof says. In the long run the productivity you gain from not
surfing, IM'ing, blogging, mine-sweeping, offering study advice on BBS, etc,
will far outweigh the loss.

Should I practise a little bit before taking notes on my laptop.
I have never done that before.
When I took a class in the law school, all the JD students were using
laptops and none of the undergrads were.

If you insist on taking notes on laptop, you don't really need to practice
anything new. Taking notes is just typing into Word (although I use OneNote)
. There are a couple minor things you can do:
If you're a very slow typist，you should bring up your typing
speed before starting law school.
Also, familiarize yourself with some shortcut keys in whatever word processing
application you plan to use. You will use staggered format, lists, different
font sizes, combinations of bold, italics, and unde
