这首歌是首绝情歌。
要说这首歌的来历，容我来装一段B。
最早的踪迹是一首中世纪的苏格兰民歌，在Francis James Child收集的民歌集Child
Ballads 里面排第二位。“parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme”来自Child
Ballads 里面的第一首歌，不知道是后人借过去的还是唱串了。
现在我们听到的曲子最早出现在Audrey Coppard1956年的唱片English Folk Songs里，
但Audrey Coppard是跟 Ewan MacColl学的这首歌。

1962年刚刚和Suze Rotolo分手的Bob Dylan在伦敦从Martin Carthy处听到了这首歌，
改编了一首 Girl from the north country，于1963年出版。Suze Rotolo就是下面这
姑娘。

后面的故事就太复杂没法追踪了。
记得九几年的时候《音乐世界》还是什么杂志上有个人介绍这首歌，说是纽约北面一个
叫多伦多的城市边上一个叫Scarborough的区域的集市，哥们信了很多年。有一次去多
伦多还专门住在Scarborough，发了个微博介绍这首歌的历史和哥们被骗的历史……结
果被人骂是瞎扯淡。

牛！先为大牛点个赞。
学到很多背景知识。
说到这首歌的意思，
我是觉得，字面确实是圆圆写的类似，
稍作修改，是我对原文的理解：
她能不用针线，也没有接缝给我做一件麻纱衬衫
她可以在海水和海岸线间给我找出一英亩的土地，
她可以用皮革鐮刀收割，收割一捆捆的石楠，
那个她，就是我的真爱。
不过，这大概就是诗的妙处，
一百个人有一百种解读。
我和大多数人一样，也是先听paul simon的版本，
歌声里，garfunkel的悠扬婉转，还是怎么都让我联系不到绝情的，
如果说是首情歌的话，
我觉得更象是留给心底深处某人的，
明知一切皆无可能，却永恒散发幽香，令人向往。

是西蒙配的副歌
大约相当于可怜无定河边骨尽是春闺梦里人
好像意境还更高一点

那几句的确是很牛，不过基本上没有人唱。

怎么解读的？明明是死人以后的丧歌。那几种香料parsley sage什么是用来防腐的；歌
词里面反复咏叹的也是生死。

一次偶然机会得了一法文版的mp3，一直珍藏，偶尔会翻出来听听，至今也有十几年了

继续学习中，其实还是不大懂，
是说男，女中有一个死了之后，
男女对唱吗？
那这个男的，和女的是什么关系？

这个解释初读比较惊悚，
一查确有其事。
不过，似乎，这几种香草功能很多，
对普通人来说，就是coalpilerd 讲的，市场上论捆卖的日常调料吧。

所以原意是爱的力量胜过一切？只要有勇气，即便不成功也是真爱？
ps最近吃到一样很好吃的东西，油炸鼠尾草，鼠尾草叶子拍上一层薄薄的面粉，油炸成
深绿色，口感比烤海苔更多一份酥脆，且有淡淡的香味。从没想到sage可以这么吃的。
