I always remember the morning
When we set out to see the whales
On one of your islands
The ferry hasn’t come
And the fog is still thick
Some vendors pass back and forth by our car
Selling your local newspapers
A barefooted man and a belly-bared woman
Leaning on the counter of the roadside coffee shop
Waiting and talking, seemingly mindlessly and aimlessly
On that lazy July morning
Funny that Seattle, the rainy capital
Was mostly sunny or with a few clouds during my stay
