What is the sensitivity with current RT-qPCR technology? As I gathered, especially in the case of retrovirus, it's like ~100 copies per reaction ( which normally translates into 10e5 copies/ml of samples). however i read about this kit (HCV) COBAS® AMPLICOR Analyzer -- it claims that it can detect HCV RNA as low as 50 copies/ml. Anybody has experience with it and how does that work, roughly? i am just curious how that can work.
