the green card application is on a case-by-case basis. you've got to build
a strong relationship with a partner before he/she will vouch for you.
otherwise the HR won't bother.
but then it's true for everything in the legal profession: it's always about
networking, connections, and personal relationships, assuming you're
reasonably inteligent and hard-working.

Make sense, it is case sensitive. how many of the JDs and LLMs get
sponsorship though? I know an LLM went back home though he passed the bar
exam and got license by studying only one year here.

Most people who go back make their decisions based on their future career
goals (or lack of), not necessarily because of their immigration status.
After all, even an H-1 visa allows you to work here for 6 years. By then,
most associates would have left their first firm anyway.

So visa doesn't sound a bigger issue here. I mean, bigger than other majors.

yes. but i heard somewhere that to apply for political asylum, you have to
do it within the first 2 years after you arrive in this country, or
something like that. This may not work for someone who has been in this
country for a while.
Also, with a political asylum green card, it's too risky to go back to china
before getting US citizenship.
