I live in a TV-free place and started reading. I finished a few Sherlock
Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle and felt bored. I will have an Agatha
Christie book (including The Mousetrap!) in a few days. Can anyone
recommend some comtemporary spy novels?
I dug out some from Amazon:
Buckley, William F., Saving the Queen
Deighton, Len, XPD
Greene, Graham, The human factor
Le Carre, John, The Russia house
Ludlum, Robert, The Gemini contenders
MacInnes, Helen, The double image

Do you mean detective stories? Maybe check the DetectiveHome on this bbs, or
whatever that board is called. I myself just started a book by Sue Grafton.
Like her story-telling so far. Her stories have an interesting naming
convention which go by the alphabet, e.g. A is for Alibi, B is for Burglar, M
is for Malice, O is for Outlaw, etc.

there is a spy novel called "Needle Eye" (or similar name), which
is very good, the background is WWII and b4 the D-day and the german
spy used needle to kill people. I read an abridge version in
one of Reader's Digest compact books back in China. There is also
a movie on it.
