Traditionally, guests will give red envelopes with money inside to the couple as wedding gifts. The red envelope is called "hong bao"or "li shi", in Chinese, which represents "good fortune"
The stuffed red envelope is the most common and feasible Chinese wedding gift because it helps the newlyweds pay for the wedding costs and begin to establish their life together.
A bridal registry is a gift list created by engaged couples that indicates to wedding guests which presents the couple would like to receive for their big day. Once completed, this wish list is sent out to friends and family, helping them decide what to buy while avoiding duplicate wedding gifts
Though money has long been an acceptable wedding gift, asking for it outright hasn’t always been viewed as proper etiquette. But attitudes have shifted, as long as requests for money are made tactfully, they are now perfectly fine.
On the wedding planning and registry website the Knot, the number of couples requesting cash on registries created in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 10 percent compared with the same period in 2021.
bouquet toss
The tradition of bouquet toss is said to have originated in England. This tradition required everyone to touch the bride or grab a piece of her clothing. This act was said to bring good luck to the wedding guests, especially in aspects of suitors and marriage.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue
Something old represents continuity and protection for a bride's future child.
Something new represents optimism for the future.
Something borrowed represents borrowed happiness from another happily married couple or bride.
Something blue represents purity, love, and fidelity.
