我在斯坦福当教练和评委 My Learnings from Coaching Stanford Entrepreneurs!
我在斯坦福大学担任创业项目的教练和评委。记录了我的收获和当教练的哲学:把能量给对方,创造真我环境让对方体会到自己真正想做的事;了解价值产生,给谁的价值;平等对待所有人。

I’m on Stanford campus this week, coaching a group of amazing entrepreneurs and startups from France, and as one of the judges for their final presentation.
“What is your coaching philosophy?”Someone asked me.
I gave a three part answer.
I — It’s all about putting the power in the hands of others.
To allow others to come forward as best as they can.
To be present and listen attentively.
To create a safe environment for authenticity to flow.
Understanding what they are going through, in a big and deep way, is always the first step before solving any problems.
Without understanding, we might not even know what real problems we are solving here.
II — What value are you providing, to whom?
Understanding real value creation is key, to customers, partners, stakeholders.
We must understand our customers. How do they make decisions?
For example, my two and a half year old son wanted to purchase candy at a gas station. I wanted to persuade him not to.
He insisted on buying a particular pack of candy. I noticed there’s a tiny ladybug printed on the packaging and said, “Look! There’s a ladybug here!” My son looked really shocked and said “Oh ladybug! No want this!” He put the candy back and picked out another brand.
Understanding customers is the key to finding product market fit. Only after can we even begin to think about pricing strategy: an exchange of money with value creation. Or partnership strategy: an exchange of resources based on what each party needs and wants.
III — Equal relationship with whoever you are speaking to.
I fundamentally believe I am not better or know more than any of my entrepreneurs. There are aspects that I may know more, but there are other aspects that they know more.
In fact, I am humbled by the amazing things they create every day. I learn from them. That’s why I enjoy coaching.
You may know about my depression and how I got out of it. The reason why my psychologist was counter productive was that she treated me as a sick person. Whereas what I needed the most was to be treated as a normal person.
What helped me get out of depression were exercising and talking with people. Just normal people. We humans are social animals. By connecting with each other, we realize that we are not alone. We have help when we need.
I feel immensely grateful for us to be part of each other’s journey in this creatable universe we live in.
