#English Study#Idiom:Grass is always greener(on the other side). Comparing ourselves to others is usually not a good idea. In fact, we have an idiom to describe that exact situation: "The grass is always greener on the other side." This expression describes people who are not happy with their own lives and think that someone else – or everyone else – has a better life than they do.
The idiom also conveys this idea: people often believe that a different set of conditions would bring them greater happiness. We use this idiom to remind people that this is not often the case. Here is an example: "Growing up, I always wanted to live in a big city. Now that I do, I miss the peace and quiet of my hometown. The grass is always greener!" #AmericanEnglish#
#英语学习#英语俗语:Grass is always greener on the other side
例句:“Growing up, I always wanted to live in a big city. Now that I do, I miss the peace and quiet of my hometown. The grass is always greener!(成长过程中,我一直向往大城市的生活。现在我住在大城市里了,却怀念起家乡的宁静。我总是不知足!”).”#AmericanEnglish#
