来自非洲的留学生说,学校食堂,让我爱上了中国菜
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the launch ceremony of the "Generation Z 2023: The Future of the Silk Road" was held at the National Museum on Thursday.
This event will invite calligraphers, artists, musicians, culinary masters, and sculptors to guide young people from China and abroad to explore Chinese culture in four areas: painting, music, food and ecological construction.
"Young people are full of vitality, representing hope, and are important forces for promoting international cooperation and cultural exchanges," said Guo Weimin, president of China Public Relations Association and former deputy director of the State Council Information Office. He expressed hopes that the youth from China and abroad will take advantage of their journey to gain a deeper understanding of China and showcase Chinese culture in their own way.
"Youth represents hope and creates the future," Wang Hao, China Daily deputy editor-in-chief, said at the ceremony. "China Daily and 21st Century are willing to work with all partners who support the development of youth to promote building a global community of shared growth for Gen Z and contribute to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind."
International students also shared their stories and experiences with Chinese culture.
Komani Mayentao, who comes from Mali and currently studies at Beijing International Studies University, said he loves Chinese food. He was very excited when he had hot pot for the first time, and immediately fell in love with it. His experience making dumplings and having a New Year's Eve dinner with Chinese students during Spring Festival made him see eating together is a matter full of familial affection and fraternity in China. The delicate production of Chinese cuisine helped him understand both the breadth and depth of Chinese food culture.
Ranadi Visina, a Samoan international student at Tianjin University of Technology, said at the beginning of this year, she learned about Chinese woodblock printing art through a course offered by the school. Contrary to her previous beliefs about Chinese painting, the production procedures includes carving, stamping and coloring, presenting unique artistic value and reflecting the extraodinary wisdom of the Chinese people.
