Join us for an enriching day of professional development at the Beijing American Center on January 20, 2024, for the English teaching seminar organized by the Regional English Language Office (RELO). Esteemed English Language Fellow alumnus, Kevin Sprague and English Language Specialist alumna, Meredith Lin, will lead four insightful and interactive workshops from 9 am to 5 pm, providing practical strategies for effective English teaching. This event is free and open to all Chinese English teachers

Trainer Bio:
Kevin Sprague is an English instructor and teacher trainer that currently teaches EAP, Public Speaking, and Debate in Duke-Kunshan University. He previously served as an English Language Fellow at Henan University and Northeastern University in Shenyang, Liaoning. In that capacity, he worked with local teachers to introduce innovate teaching techniques and enjoys sharing his passion for good fundamentals of communicative teaching. He has given teacher training workshops throughout China and Asia, having presented at Thai TESOL, Lao TESOL, CAM TESOL and KoTESOL. He obtained his MA TESOL from Pennsylvania State University with a focus on academic writing and genre-based instruction, and he has taught Academic Writing, Debate, Public Speaking, Language Communication, Academic Reading Strategies, and Literature. He considers himself an outgoing and enthusiastic instructor.
Meredith Lin is a former participant in the English Language Specialist Program, a U.S. Department of State exchange program. She earned her MA in Multicultural Literature and Transnational Studies and a TESOL master’s certification. Meredith has worked with English language learners at various levels and capacities for 17 years, primarily in the United States (Washington, D.C. metro area) and China. Specializing in curriculum development and assessment design she is excited to share her experiences to support educators in their professional development at the Beijing American Center. Currently, she works at an international school in Beijing, supporting students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.

This event is ONLY open to English teachers, researchers, and university students. The event will be conducted in English. Audio or video recording of the program will not be permitted.
请务必携带本人身份证原件及报名确认函进入北京美国中心, 证件复印件或照片将不被允许进入。请勿携带大包及笔记本电脑前往。便携式电子设备如:手机、平板电脑,和智能手表可以带入北京美国中心。请在使馆东门排队等候。
You must bring both your valid photo ID and registration confirmation in order to get into the BAC. Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted. Large bags and laptops will not be allowed into BAC for this event. Portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are allowed to get in the BAC. Please wait in line at the East Gate of the embassy.

Please arrive 20 minutes earlier ahead of the start time. You will NOT be admitted if you arrive half an hour after the program has started.
