罗斯收养一只叫马赛尔的猴子。
六人达成协议，在迎接新年的派对上不带伴侣。
在Central Perk咖啡馆唱歌时，菲比遇到两个争吵不休的男人，
经过交锋，她和其中一个开始约会，此人名叫大卫，是个科学家。
两人关系发展顺利，可他接到科研基金，需要赴明斯克工作三年。
大卫不知所措。
派对上除了罗斯，人人都忘了约定，带了伴侣参加；
菲比带大卫，乔伊带着他在百货店遇到的单亲妈妈桑迪；
瑞秋则带来提前飞回的保路；钱德寂寞难耐邀请了珍妮丝；
莫妮卡请来fun波比（有酒就fun没酒就boring那个）；罗斯只有马赛尔作伴。
不过，午夜时分每一对都不欢而散。
[Scene: Monica and Rachel's, Ross is entering.]
Ross: Guys? There's a somebody I'd like you to meet.
(A monkey jumps on to his shoulder.)
All: Oooh!
Monica: W-wait. What is that?
Ross: 'That' would be Marcel. You wanna say hi?
Monica: No, no, I don't.

Ross: My friend Bethelrescued him from some lab.
Phoebe: That is so cruel! Why? Why would a parent name their child Bethel?

Monica: Ross, is he gonna live with you, like, in your apartment?
Ross: Yeah. I mean, it's been kinda quiet since Carol left, so...

Janice: I love this artichoke thing! Oh, don't tell me what's in it, the diet starts tomorrow! (Laughs her Janice laugh)

(Everyone cheers. Monica opens the door. Bobby is obviously very depressed)
Fun Bobby: Hey, sorry I'm late. But my, uh, grandfather, he- died about two hours ago. But I-I-I couldn't get a flight out 'til tomorrow, so here I am我来了!
Joey: (Approaching) Hey Fun Bobby! Whoah! Who died?
(Monica gestures wildly猛作手势 behind Fun Bobby's back)
[Time lapse. Bobby is talking about his grandfather. Everyone else is virtually事实上 in tears流着泪]
Fun Bobby: It's gonna be an open casket(n.<美>棺材), y'know, so at least I'll- I get to see him again.
Janice: (Ross is still taking their photo) Oh, I'm gonna blow this one up, and I'm gonna write 'Reunited' in glitter.

yoko:都是大野洋子的错.小野洋子名字的英文拼法是Yoko Ono，她是一位知名的前卫艺术家，但更为人知的头衔，则是“披头士”the Beatles 主唱 John Lennon 的太太。她与John Lennon相识相恋，之后两人甚至还合组乐团，一起出专辑。很多披头士的歌迷不喜欢大野洋子，觉得她是造成披头士两位主唱John Lennon和Paul McCartney的不合，并进而解散乐团的原因之一。所以这里Max愤怒地说Phoebe是大野洋子，就是比喻他们好兄弟之所以决裂，全是因为David迷恋Phoebe的关系。
