Agree.
Substitute these Tehran youngsters with youngsters grew up in the midst of
cultural revolution in China, and you see the issue. The only emotions these
people are accustomed to express are the political/ideological ones. The word
"love" is far fromved from the usual objects (spouse, lover), and exclusively
associated with Chairman Mao / Ayatollah Khomeini etc.

一个伊朗长大美国受教育又回伊朗教书最终离开伊朗的大学女教师的回忆录，背景是伊朗
宗教革命和两伊战争那段时间。讲了学校里教授西方文学的经历，还有离职后她每周四在
家里给她的7名女学生们开文学鉴赏讨论，在对Lolita, The Great Gastby，以及Henry
James, Austin等作家的作品的解读过程当中，分析对比伊朗当时的社会现实，妇女地位
，个人自由等等问题。
Chinese is hard to type... back to English. :) The book has been on top of the
best selling list since the paperback has been out. Not sure about the
popularity of the hard cover but I suspect it was just as popular. I am sure
you can find more reviews online.
