The 29th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting will be held in Thailand with the theme of “Open. Connect. Balance.” – promoting resilient, inclusive, balanced and sustainable long-term growth to support the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). And the COP 27 kicks off in Egypt this week. Renmin University of China (RUC) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) are planning to jointly host the APEC Energy Forum 2022 with the endorsement of APEC Secretariat, EWG and 21 member economies, which will bring together people of insight from APEC economies who are involved in Politics-Industry-University-Research-Business circles, to deeply discuss the current trends of “energy transformation, scientific and technological innovation, climate finance and biodiversity”, explore meaningful cooperative choices in education for low-carbon development, promote the inclusiveness and integration of young people from all economies in this field, and promote multilateralism within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Through cross-field discussions, especially the APEC university presidents and young students exchange, this forum hopes to further promote the idea of energy development and transformation, accelerate the implementation of the Energy Access Initiative in the APEC region, support the realization of the UN 2030 SDGs, facilitate the implementation of the Global Development Initiative.
