到底是“Chinese New Year”，还是“Lunar New Year”？
今天大年初一，先给大家拜年，兔年大吉！
这两天大家为了一件事情吵得不可开交：“中国农历新年”到底是lunar new year 还是 Chinese new year。
我昨天在社交媒体刷到一张图：
纽约帝国大厦为中国农历新年亮起红色的顶灯，但配文是 lunar new year
底下出现了两条针锋相对的评论：
我在谷歌上搜了“Chinese New Year”的新闻，第一页总共显示9条新闻：
其中5条新闻用 Lunar New Year，4条新闻用了 Chinese (lunar) New Year。
我顺便也搜了“spring festival”，发现结果都是咱们国家媒体在用：
首先你要明白一个概念，前面不加任何修饰成分的 New Year 指的是西方公历的新年，1月1日，也就是咱们说的元旦。
而 Chinese New Year 就是中国人说的“春节”，每年在公历的时间都不一样，因为春节用的是农历（lunar calendar)，确切来说，是阴阳历（Lunisolar Calendar），不过依然以月亮运动周期为主，所以说成更简单的 lunar calendar 也无可厚非。
lunar 这个词来源于拉丁语 luna（月亮），lunar calender 就是按照月亮运行规律制定的历法。
所以 Chinese New Year（中国新年）和Lunar New Year（农历新历）本来就是一个东西，本来相安无事的两个翻译，为啥近几年争议频频呢？
有一个叫 China highlights 的网站，把这个争议说得挺清楚，咱们一起看看：
"Chinese New Year" is specific while "Lunar New Year" is more general.
*specific: adj.具体的、有针对性的
*general: adj.宽泛的、笼统的
译：“Chinese New Year“更具体，"Lunar New Year"更宽泛。
When referring specifically to the new year event when Chinese traditions and culture are celebrated, you can refer to it as "Chinese New Year".
*refer to it as...:把它称为...
译：当你指中国传统文化概念上的新年庆祝时，要叫它"Chinese New Year"。
"Lunar New Year" is a more general term and encompasses all celebrations that mark a new year according to a lunar calendar.
*encompass: vt.包含
*mark: vt.庆祝
译：“lunar new year”是一个更宽泛的概念，涵盖所有庆祝农历新年的文化传统。
In contexts outside of China, referring to Lunar New Year as "Chinese New Year" and vice versa can come off as insensitive and offensive because it ignores other cultures, all of which have their own unique traditions, beliefs, and celebrations.

*vice versa：反之亦然
*come off as...：给人留下...的印象
*insensitive: adj.不敏感的；（对他人感受）未意识到的
译：在中国之外的语境下，把"Lunar New Year"称为"Chinese New Year"，或相反（在中国语境下，把"Chinese New Year"称为"Lunar New Year“）都会给人留下"不顾他人情感"甚至"冒犯"的印象，因为这种做法无视其他文化，每一种文化都有自己独特的传统、信仰和庆祝方式。
说得简单一点，Chinese New Year 是针对过农历新年的中国人说的，Lunar New Year 是针对过农历新年的“非中国人”说的。
比如你面对一个过农历新年的越南人，对他说“Happy Chinese New Year “也不合适对吧，同理，面对中国人说"Happy Lunar New Year“，也不适合。
西方人可能搞不清楚 Chinese New Year 和 Lunar New Year 的区别，但“庆祝农历新年的非中国人”（如越南人和韩国人）可能会计较。
在他们的各种努力下，Lunar New Year 的说法在国际上似乎越来越显得更 “politcally correct”（政治正确），例如：

我知道很多同学在海外看到 Lunar New Year 会来气，这一点非常能理解，我们只要记住一点就好了：
农历新年起源于中国，开枝散叶到周边国家，不管他们叫什么，也不管他们做什么努力，都改变不了 Chinese New Year 的内涵和本质。
节日的意义在于普天共庆，不介意其他国家也过，但如果有些人篡改含义就是别有用心了。
