When you want to pay, you can say:

• Could we have the check, please?

• Can I have the check, please?

• We’ll have the check.

Sometimes, you may also want to say:

• Do you accept credit cards?

• Can we have separate checks?(If you and the people you are eating with want to pay separately.)

• We’re going to split the bill. (if you and the people you are eating with want to pay an equal amount of the bill.)

Also note that the practice of tipping is expected in the United States, especially for restaurant workers whose wages mostly come from tips. If the bill says “gratuity included” or “service included,”you are not expected to leave a tip. #AmericanEnglish#
