APAD: Snug as a bug in a rug
Meaning: To feel very comfortable/cozy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A balmy paradise such as SoCal can numb you. You are more likely to feel snug as
a bug in the harsh winters on the Canadian prairie.
You have a class at 8:00am. You bundle and steel yourself and brave into the
darkness and the blizzard. It is only a mile but takes forever to reach the red
shiny Tim Horton's on the edge of campus. But you have time to reward yourself.
You dust your earflaps and wipe your boots at the door and enter a fug of milk
and coffee.
"They have it bad in the east this year, don't they?" you take off your heavily
fogged glasses and mention casually to the girl behind the counter, who herself
looks like a student.
"They have it bad EVERY year" she agrees with a knowing nod and tries not to
appear gloating, "but how are you doing?"
"Never better."
"Good. What can I get you?"
"A double-double, please."
In two minutes, the drink thaws you inside out. You feel like a bug snug in a rug.
