大意偶知道。但人家问偶，偶说不清楚。中文是越来越rusty了 :(
这里文学高手多，多多指教。

这个its succeeding，俺怀疑是it's succeeding。少了那一撇，句子
好像读不太通。
in the saddle是主导、掌权的意思。这句具体怎么译要看上下文吧。
比如：有钱人的民主才是主流。

牛, 是我typo. "and is" not "its"
context is
"He is a lone voice, telling things as they are and debunking Washington
policies that are neither compassionate nor conservative.
Plutocratic democracy is in the saddle."

顺便再问问, wag the dog, 做和解释? 有部电影叫wag the dog, 在下面这段
话里也有
in a NYT columnist paper titled "Stocks and Bombs"
"...Larry Kudlow...argued for an invasion of Iraq to boost the Dow.
Pretty amazing stuff, though not as amazing as a July column in NYT
by John Podhoretz, whose headline read, "Octorber Surprise, Please,"

"摇狗尾巴"? 什么意思? 那个电影也这么翻译? 这个是字面的意思把...
这个里语有什么别和涵义?

电影有个翻译是“摇尾巴狗”，片头里说“为什么狗摇尾巴，而不是尾巴
摇狗？——因为狗比尾巴聪明。假设尾巴比狗聪明的话，那就轮到尾巴摇狗了。”
这个新闻里用的也许是电影那个典故。假如你没看过电影，那么google一下
影评看看？

电影看了两, 三便了, burn on cd
一直对这个说法不甚了了
比较懒, 没有google的习惯, google水平也臭//blush

那电影里就是Dustin Hoffman, De Niro这些制造操纵舆论的是狗, 民众是狗尾巴了?

我的理解也只是我自己的，说出来给你听听可对。我想电影的意思
是不管是狗还是尾巴，大家就是一个谁厉害谁操控对方的关系，好比
那个制片人，平常在好莱坞也算大红人一个，自以为世界都围着他在转
的，可到头来还不是没能及时回头，给枉送了性命。整个事情都不过
为了给总统连任制造便利，这个世界是，不管多荒谬的事情（荒谬
有如尾巴摇狗好比？），都有可能是现实。

这个作为对电影的理解可以, 我也如此理解. 但已经远远超过对这个里语的翻译了.
总觉得应该有什么可以概括一下wag the dog的本意和含义. 比如那个新闻标题.
昨天在网上找了一下, 不得要领. 出来一大堆无关的东西.
