The shift away from fossil fuels has helped fuel the rise of China's motor industry.
In 2009, China surpassed the US to become the world's largest market for new vehicles. The Chinese government helped the domestic EV industry grow by offering purchasing and tax incentives, as well as by developing charging infrastructure to bring electric vehicles into the mainstream.

Only a few years ago Chinese cars were poorly designed and shoddily put together. Today they are mostly as good as foreign ones in both respects, and surpass them in the software-driven digital experience that will define car brands in the future.
