About Chinese New Year 中国新年
Chinese so called "24 solar terms" of a year contains movements of both Sun and Moon, not just moon's phase. In China we call Spring Festival or Chinese New Year the most. Sometimes we call it Nong Li (Agriculture Calendar) New Year, but never Lunar (Moon's Calendar) New Year. Contents and meanings of Chinese New Year is very rich: Complete house cleaning, put up red paper banners on the doors, giving money to the kids on the New Year Eve, wearing brand new clothes, events or activities that would keep people from bad luck and lead people towards good luck and prosperous, many kinds of special and delicious foods that you won't see in the regular days, family and friends' reunions, deliver kind greetings to your family, relatives and friends... so on and so forth.
中国所谓的一年“二十四节气”包含了太阳和月亮的运动,而不仅仅是月相。在中国,我们最常称春节或中国新年。有时我们称它为农历(农历)新年,但从不称其为月相新年。过年的内容和意义非常丰富:大扫除,门上贴红联,除夕给孩子们发红包,穿上新衣服,趋吉避邪的活动,许多平时看不到的特色美食,亲朋好友团聚,向家人,亲戚和朋友问候拜年拜年......如此种种。
