2024 Chinese New Year's Dinner

Since there were only four people in this year's Chinese Year dinner, I stopped cooking after finishing Six dishes. Six (六) as a luck number mainly means smooth or well-off. In Chinese “六六大顺” means that everything is going smoothly

Plus the other two deserts or snacks, there are total eight plates of dishes. The number 8 is believed to be the luckiest number in China. 'Eight' (八) in Chinese is pronounced ba and sounds similar to fa (发) as in facai (发财), meaning 'well-off' or 'becoming rich in a short time'.

1.林中龙 ：Dragon in forest

Stir fried smoken pork with blanched carrots, beets, dried mushroom, brussel sprouts

2.十蔬什锦菜 - assorted mixing of ten kind of vegetables

十全十美。Be pefect in every respect; Everything is out of these world; Be all roses

3. 剁椒烤鱼： Baked fish with homemade chopped chilly pepper

年年有鱼，红红火火

Every year, there is surplus of wealth and food； May there be bounty every year； Booming and prosperous

4: 八宝饭--steamed glutinous rice desert with eight treasures

甜甜蜜蜜； May you have a happy and sweet life,Wishing your family a happy reunion

5. 粉蒸肉： Steamed pork slices with grounded rice

蒸蒸日上： Wishing you make great progress everyday

6. 烤鸭-- Roasted duck

Wish you happiness and prosperity

7. 年糕-- baked sticky rice cake

年年高升：May you get get promoted higher and higher positions. Wish you make great progress in your Study

8. 桔子 -- Orange

财源滚滚，吉祥如意、团圆美满
