Visa, Mastercard Agree to Lower Swipe Fees

Visa, Mastercard and the largest U.S. credit-card issuing banks have agreed to a settlement with merchants that have been suing them for nearly two decades over the fees they charge for swiping credit cards.

Typically swipe fees cost merchants 2% of the total transaction a customer makes but can be as much as 4% for some premium rewards cards, according to the National Retail Federation. The settlement would lower those fees by at least 0.04 percentage point for a minimum of three years.

与credit card holder无关吧？

credit card那些公司都属于是闷声赚大钱的，每天没啥事干，顶级养老公司。
富人家孩子学tech相关专业的，都往Visa里送。

资本市场真黑啊，刷个卡就要2~4%的流水费。中国工人胼手胝足从原材料到成品造一个iPhone, 拿到的还没有3%.

有店家会把这个费用转嫁到顾客头上。会有小字表明用信用卡付账的话会多个2%-4%的手续费

大家喜欢的credit card perks都是从这swipe fee来的其实。。。

也不能这么说。节约成本对商家来说也很重要。这也包括了时间成本和安全成本。假设没有信用卡付款的选择，商家每天要早晚去银行取钱存钱，保留当天business要用的现金流，还要因为店里有现金增加额外的security，用信用卡结算省了很多这样的步骤。适当收取费用可以理解，但是费用太高就有反效果了。
