My plumber charged $1400 for installing water heater
I paid and ordered water heater from Home Depot. He refused to use new water /gas lines I ordered and he added expansion tank. Was I get ripped off? lol. I did not ask for price before the work because his price is reasonable for other work. Close to 3 hours of work. expansion tank only $50. Was planing to use installation service from Home Depot but that referral company asked for $120 to estimate. I may have used Lowes last time.
What do I need to pay attention DIY for future water heater change?
I drained the water heater, and disconneted both incoming cold water line and outgoing hot water lines. but there was wafer dripping from hot water line (Plumber told me later it was catridge issue at a faucet. cross bridging. even when the faucet is turned off?). I did not have a suitable plug/cap so I stopped trying to replace the water heater myself.
I have gas leak detector. I know people just use soap water.
Exhaust pipe adjustment could be issue. I saw people use angle grinder to made changes.
