A Song of Wild West
Her name is Zhuoma , 卓玛, meaning Goddness in Tibetan(藏语为女神), the girl in the most famous song of Mr. Wang (王洛宾), "The place far and away", 《在那遥远的地方》，卓玛 was daughter of local town mayor near Qinhai lake.
Wang was KMT (国民党）officer then , with no military duty, tried to help a famous director of the movie ("Motherland ") and hired along with Zhuoma for several days by the director( 郑君里）。
Their work in the movie included being a shepherd and working as partners, riding the same horse around qinhai lake in 1939, Wang went back even after the end of movie shooting, for collection of local folk songs, during the period Wang stayed in the mayor's big house, so he and Zhuoma got very close but never expressed the true feeling towards each other. 15 years after their roles in the movie ("The Motherland") shooting, Zhuoma died young at age 32, after married to a rich Han man as she wished.
Obiously Wang still remembered Zhuoma, after about 1000 song writing or rewriting, Wang died at age 83, asked to have the lyrics of the love song carved on his tome stone (see below), when people asked how he survived 20 years jail time by KMT and then GCD? His answer is, my love of music.
Several years before his death, a writer from Taiwan, Sanmao (三毛) died by suiside at age 46, only 4 months after leaving then an old or elder Wang's home in Xinjiang. Sanmao loved Wang or Wang's work.
I figured Mr. Wang think then, a 75 years old age is too late for a new love chapter while Sanmao probably doesn't mind.
