My Doggy Ate My Essay

My doggy ate my essay.
He picked up all my mail.
He cleaned my dirty closet
and dusted with his tail.
 
He straightened out my posters
and swept my wooden floor.
My parents almost fainted
when he fixed my bedroom door.
 
I did not try to stop him.
He made my windows shine.
My room looked like a palace,
and my dresser smelled like pine.
 
He fluffed up every pillow.
He folded all my clothes.
He even cleaned my fish tank
with a toothbrush and a hose.
 
I thought it was amazing
to see him use a broom.
I'm glad he ate my essay
on “How to Clean My Room.”

So, we no longer have to live in "a dog-eat-dog world."

Darren Sardelli is a humorous poet who knows how to get kids

excited about poetry. He was invited to speak at 800 schools.

 

After i read the introduction about the poet, this poem makes more sense to me.

I remember a grade one teacher once said, "Garbage in.

Garbage out. So don't feed your dog with lazy bones."

My Dog Ate My Homework

 

Today I told my teacher

that my dog ate my homework,

so I have nothing to turn in.

 

In disbelief , she said,

"I gave an assignment to research

on how not to let your dog eat your homework and write a report  about it.

You didn't learn any tricks?"

 

"I did. But my dog keeps teach himself new tricks

so he can always outwit me. That's why

he could eat my report."

thus the kid couldn't hand in the essay as it was eaten;)

Vacumming My Room

I shared my bedroom with my little bro
One day mom told us to clean the room
I thought it was fun to make it a game

while my brother crawled around the floor 
cleaning every corner of the room
