Do you want to learn more about the history of the United States? Join a prominent American historian at the Beijing American Center for a series of informative and engaging talks.

Session 11: Exploring the Early History of US-China Relations

Friday, May 5, 2023, 3:00-4:30p.m.

Join us for a lecture and open discussion on the history of US-China relations up to 1949, led by a professional historian. The relationship between the United States and China has a long and complex history marked by economic, political, and cultural exchanges. During this event, we will explore how the relationship between the US and China evolved from the early days of trade and diplomacy to 1949. Our discussion will cover key moments in the history of US-China relations, including the Opium Wars, the Boxer War, educational, business, and scientific exchanges in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the Allied effort to defeat Japan during World War II. Come to the Beijing American Center for this lively and candid talk.

This event will be conducted in English.

*While portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are permitted, guests may not bring laptop computers to Beijing American Center programs.   

For security reasons, the BAC staff reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone.
