Event Detail:
American community colleges are not well understood in China. While over 20% of Japanese and Vietnamese students studying in the USA attend community colleges, only about 3% of Chinese students do so. As a result, many Chinese families miss the opportunities to send their kids to the USA for a great American Education. The 2+2 transfer pathway is a signature feature of American community colleges, which provides community college students/graduates the opportunities to transfer to a four-year institution for a bachelor’s degree. However, within public higher education systems, each State may have different practices. This session will give an overview of American community colleges and discuss 2+2 practices in Hawaii, Washington and California.
