In this online sharing session, Jeff will talk about the risks of extreme heat to the human body, as well as the heat as the primary driver of other climate impacts, from sea level rise to wildfires. He will discuss the record-breaking temperatures we saw around the world this summer, and what we can expect in the future. He will explain why cities are hotter than the surrounding countryside, how heat impacts the spread of disease, why air-conditioning is not a simple tech-fix for extreme heat, and what can be done to help us adapt to the hotter future we are creating as long as we continue to burn fossil fuels.
