Each year from September 15 to October 15, the United States celebrates Hispanic American Heritage Month. This annual celebration recognizes the achievements by Hispanic Americans and honors what is best in American democracy: our diversity and traditions that are shaped and strengthened by people from every part of the world. To celebrate this month, come join us for a screening of “Born in East L.A.”. The film tells the story about an American citizen born in Los Angeles, California that was mistaken to be an illegal alien and deported to Mexico. He has to do everything he can to cross the border and get back home. After the screening, a Colombian-born American diplomat will lead a discussion to talk about Hispanic heritage and share his perspectives on the challenges facing Hispanic people in the United States.
