There are an estimated 1 billion people with disabilities worldwide. Their contributions benefit us all. In the United States, July 26th marks the 1990 enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act, a landmark U.S. rights law that extended civil rights protections to persons with disabilities and assured that all Americans would benefit from their talents. Guangzhou American Center will screen the film Imperfect, which follows a professional company of actors with all nature of disabilities – including spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, cerebral palsy, autism, low vision/blind, and multiple sclerosis – as they attempt an unprecedented version of the musical Chicago. The actors open the backstage door for the viewer, giving a rare and unfiltered look at the details of their daily lives, in and out of the theatre. The film chronicles their intimate stories as they persevere against obstacles in a world that excludes them.

If you have any symptoms of physical discomfort, please do not attend.  We will take all possible measures to maintain a safe environment for public events.  Our facilities have state-of-the-art air filtration systems specifically designed to prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses in the building.  Strict sanitary measures will be taken at the venue, and hand sanitizer and face masks will be provided. The number of attendees at each event will be limited per current public health guidelines.
