Do you want to learn more about U.S. Presidents? Join us @TheBAC for a series of informative and engaging talks as we explore the myths behind the people. 

Richard Nixon, the 37th President of the United States, remains a polarizing figure, with a political career that spanned the heights of electoral success and the depths of scandal. In office from 1969 to 1974, Nixon's tenure saw significant foreign policy achievements, including the opening of diplomatic relations with China and détente with the Soviet Union. However, his presidency ultimately unraveled in the wake of the Watergate scandal, leading to an unprecedented resignation. The Nixon era also marked the beginning of the “culture wars” over issues like abortion, gay rights, race, and women’s rights that continue to play a significant role in US politics today. Our discussion will explore Nixon's political rise and fall and the lasting consequences of his administration. 

Dr. Jeremiah Jenne is an American writer and historian based in Beijing. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis. His essays and articles have appeared in The Economist, South China Morning Post, The China Project, The Journal of Asian Studies, The China Project, Los Angeles Review of Books, and The World of Chinese.  

This event will be conducted in English. 

Program suitable for ages 15 and older. 

Doors will open 30 minutes before the program starts. Please try to arrive at least 30 minutes before the program starts to allow enough time to go through security. You will NOT be admitted if you arrive after the program has started.
