中译英｜你有搭子吗？

最近，“搭子社交”十分流行。

译：The “Da Zi socializing” has been popular recently.

关于时态的选择： 由于“搭子社交”是近期出现的热现象，并非一直存在；搭配“最近” recently常用现在完成时。

1，所谓“搭子”，是指陌生人因某种共同需求、兴趣结成社交关系。

译：“Da Zi”, a trending Chinese word with a similar meaning to “buddy”, refers to the social relationship formed between strangers for shared needs or hobbies.

中国特色词汇的翻译：采取音译+增译的翻译方式。一方面保留原文发音，传达中文词汇的简洁灵动；另一方面，增加英文解释便于目标语读者理解，即 a trending Chinese word with a similar meaning to “buddy”, refers to…  “搭子”英文中的意译词包括buddy、pal、companion、partner，或者转换为动词结构：accompany with/team up等等。英文母语中更常用buddy，对应这类in-person relationship。

2，“饭搭子”是一起吃饭，“旅游搭子”是一起旅游，“运动搭子”是一起运动，甚至还有“遛娃搭子”“逛街搭子”“摸鱼搭子”……

译：For example, “meal buddies” eat together, and in a similar fashion, there are travel buddies, sports buddies, or even buddies for shopping, taking kids out for fun, and coasting on the job...  

汉译英如何避免重复：英汉语言具有差异性，中文喜欢重复，而英文中需要避免。除了使用代词，如he/she/it/that/the man/the precious one，或省略等方法外，还可以将相同结构合并处理，比如in a similar fashion... 等等。 

“遛娃”意译为take kids out for fun 

“摸鱼” coasting

原意为“（惯性）滑行 ”If a vehicle coasts somewhere, it continues to move there with the motor switched off, or without being pushed or pedalled. 英文中常以此借指“应付工作；混日子”。

如You're just coasting—it's time to work hard now. 

你根本是在应付—现在该努力干了。 

3，只要能想到，万物皆可搭。

译：one may have a buddy for anything they can think of.

主语一致问题：前半句主语是人，后半句主语是物，我们可以将主语统一为人。 

代词they：In English, the term "singular they" describes the practice of using of the pronoun "they" to refer to a single person rather than a plural group of people.

Singular they occurs when the speaker does not know the number or gender of the individual or individuals being referred to. 

即性别或数目不确定时可以用they作单数人称代词。                    

4，当代人为什么热衷找搭子？

译：Why are people keen to have buddies?

“找搭子”的重点不是“寻找”这个动作，而是“拥有”这个状态。所以“找”译为have。 

5，“有人认为” 如果译成someone就是不定代词，谓语动词用单数；但如果是some，谓语动词要用复数。（“有人认为”some believe 即可，不必字对字译为some people believe）

6，‘搭子是亲密关系的“平替”，是对亲密关系的主动“降级”。

译： Some believe that people seek buddies deliberately as a cheap substitute for companionship.   

译文中，“亲密关系”出现了两次，同样用相同结构省略重复，此处将并列结构转变成了主句和as伴随状语。 

注：翻译“亲密关系”时，intimate 有男女关系的意思，用时要小心。 

7，“搭子社交更倾向实用性，目的一致性让社交效率更高。

”译：Buddy socializing tends to be practical, as common interests of buddies lead to more efficient interactions.

增译逻辑关系词：后半句是前半句的原因解释，所以增加as 

英汉翻译中形容词/副词经常与名词相互转换，比如 实用性—practical

interaction注意是复数形式。 

8，一个合拍的搭子固然能让生活变得不再乏味，但搭子社交也存在一些争议，如安全问题、社交陷阱等等。

译：Admittedly, buddies who click make life less boring, but there are still concerns  surrounding buddy socializing, namely safety issues and scams.

“合拍”Click：to work well together 配合默契；运作协调

“争议”并不是字面意义上的controversies，实际是concerns

“社交陷阱”代入到语境中指的是杀猪盘等骗局，可译为scam。

在句子中单独做状语，用逗号来隔开。相当于短语that is to say。 

9，“不妨用更开放的眼光去看待这种社交新形态，通过更多理解和正向引导，实现社交共赢。”

译：But why not adopt an open attitude towards this new form of relationship? By fostering understanding of “Da Zi”socializing and emphasizing its positive outcomes, more people could realize the benefits of this new social relationship.

“不妨”的作用是进行提议/倡议，用should有些绝对，可以采用提建议经典句型why not.

“正向引导”用positive guidance意义不明，改为emphasizing its positive outcomes。

“实现社交共赢”需要找到这句话的主语 —— “Da Zi” socializing

10，搭子的尽头是什么？可能升级为友情，当然，也可能相忘于江湖。

译：What do buddies eventually lead to? They might develop a friendship, or they might fade into the background for each other.

friendship一般用作不可数名词,但表示具体的或一段“友谊”或“友情”时,可用作可数名词。

“相忘于江湖”英语中有一条对应的短语 fade into the background —— It is typically used to describe someone or something that goes unnoticed or is not noticed. 意为逐渐淡出人们的视线：逐渐变得不重要。
