每日原则:按你的要求花钱的人在花钱上可能会大手大脚
这是因为(1)他们花的不是自己的钱;(2)很难知道正确的价格应该是多少。例如,某个员工提出要为咨询项目支付125,000美元,要想弄清楚市价是多少再商议一个更低的价格,会令人很不愉快,也比较麻烦和难做到。但是,同样是这个不愿意与咨询公司讨价还价的人,在雇人粉刷自己的房子时肯定会猛烈砍价。因此你需要进行合理的监控,或最好让公司的某个部门负责此类监控。你公司的支付对象有时是个人,有时是企业。只要有可能,尽量与企业打交道。
This is because 1) it is not their money and 2) it is difficult to know what the right price should be. For example, if somebody proposes a price of $125,000 for a consulting project, it is unpleasant, difficult, and confusing to figure out what the market rate is and then negotiate a better price. But the same person who's reluctant to negotiate with the consultant will bargain furiously when he is hiring someone to paint his own house. You need to have proper controls, or better yet, a part of the organization that specializes in this kind of thing. There's retail and there's wholesale. You want to pay wholesale whenever possible.
